INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ON NITROGEN FIXATION
THE CONGRESS -- The 16th International Congress on Nitrogen Fixation brings together researchers from around the world every other year for networking, scientific discussions, and collaboration. The goal of the congresses is to bring together all active members of the community of scientists and technologists that study the chemistry, biochemistry, genetics, regulation, physiology, ecology, and evolution of the nitrogen-fixation process itself; the agriculturally and environmentally vital interactions between microbes and plants and animals; natural resource conservation; forestry; sustainable agriculture and food production.
BIG SKY; MONTANA is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains in Southwest, Montana. The area is famous for outdoor recreation including hiking, skiing, fishing, and rafting. It is 48 miles from the entrance to Yellowstone National Park, home to a variety of wildlife including grizzly bears, wolves, bison and elk. Preserved within Yellowstone National Park are Old Faithful and many of the world's most extraordinary geysers and hot springs, and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.
NITROGEN FIXATION is one of the most important subject areas relating to the support of life on Earth. Nitrogen fixation is a property of prokaryotic organisms in which they convert nitrogen from the atmosphere in its molecular form, N2, into nitrogen compounds useful to the organisms such
as ammonia, nitrate and nitrogen dioxide.
